Free admission for the first 5,000 attendees
on opening day of CivicFest
On Friday, Aug. 29, the first 5,000 CivicFest attendees will be admitted
free. Doors open at 9:30 a.m.
CivicFest is a vibrant civic festival celebrating Minnesota and American
history, democracy, and the U.S. Presidency. The event, produced by
the Minneapolis Saint Paul 2008 Host Committee, will be held August 29 through
September 4, 2008 at the Minneapolis Convention Center. CivicFest is
a once-in-a-lifetime family-friendly experience, featuring more than 35 educational
and entertaining exhibits, including; historic memorabilia and artifacts,
a scale model of the White House, a re-created Convention floor, a stage
featuring live performances, an actual President’s official limousine,
a full-scale replica of the White House Oval Office, multimedia and interactive
exhibits featuring significant historical objects, an interactive kiosk that
explores the lives and administrations of the twelve 20th – century
Presidents, and a 60,000 square-foot Marketplace, showcasing a variety of
products to the CivicFest audience, with an emphasis on locally produced
and designed merchandise.
Building off of the excitement around the 2008 Republican National Convention,
CivicFest will showcase Minnesota to Convention delegates and
media and will allow local citizens to be involved in the Convention experience. CivicFest
is expected to attract 150,000 attendees.

Public Transportation:
Minneapolis is blessed with one of the largest public transit systems in the country. Busses and taxis are readily available at the Minneapolis Convention center and at most hotels. Use MetroTransit’s Trip Planner for easy door-to-door directions.
Tickets:
Ticket prices are $15 for adults and $10 for students, seniors (60+) and active-duty military; children under 8 admitted free. Group rates are $10 for adults
and $6 for students, seniors and active-duty military in groups of twentyor more.
